Meet Dr. Bacala
Jose Bacala, M.D.
Board Certified Family Medicine Physician
Dr. Bacala grew up as an Air Force military brat, but calls Las Vegas, Nevada home. He received his bachelor's degree in Health Physics/Comprehensive Medical Imaging at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2006. He worked as an ultrasonographer at multiple hospitals here in Las Vegas prior to attending medical school at the American University of St. Maarten School of Medicine, graduating in 2011.
After graduating, he completed his Family Medicine residency at Beaumont Health in Michigan in 2015. Prior to moving back to Las Vegas, he served as attending faculty/professor at Beaumont Health, teaching resident physicians and medical students, and served as medical director at a community urgent care in Metro Detroit. Dr. Bacala has received the "Patients' Choice Award" and "Compassionate Doctor Award" multiple times, and was awarded "Top Doctors of America" by Nationwide Registries in 2025. He also works as a Ring Physician for USA Boxing at events in Las Vegas.
Dr. Bacala practices full-spectrum primary care medicine, taking care of patients of all ages. He has a special interest in dermatology procedures, sports medicine, and geriatrics. He enjoys practicing in the direct primary care model so he can spend time with patients and help them live healthier, longer lives — he feels this model restores the physician and patient relationship.
Dr. Bacala lives with his wife Heather, their three children, and their dogs Jax and Lexi. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, hiking, skim boarding and one-wheeling, and rooting for the hometown UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball and Vegas Golden Knights hockey.
